Job Search Behavior Among the Employed and Non?Employed

We develop a unique survey that focuses on the job search behavior of individuals regardless their labor force status and field it annually starting in 2013. use our to study relationship between effort outcomes for employed non?employed. Three important facts stand out: (1) on?the?job is pervasive, more intense at lower rungs ladder; (2) are least three times effective than unemployed search; (3) receive better offers unemployed. set up general equilibrium model with endogenous effort, calibrate fit new facts, find highly elastic. show substantially amplifies market responses productivity shocks over business cycle.
